This page originally showed details
of local churches on the North-East coast of Spain! From time to time
I'll update with similar pictures of Suffolk, which is blessed with a
wonderful array of churches dating as far back as the 9th century, and
include many with round towers and even thatched roofs. |

St. Peter's Church Yoxford. This is our 'local' church -
we live just across the road! I've never lived this close to a church
before! |
Ramsholt Church against a blue April sky. |

| Ramsholt church with a very unusual buttressed ROUND tower.
The old line of the roof suggests it was once thatched like several others
in Suffolk. |
Boulge church - isolated deep in the countryside: it
contains the grave of the well known translator of the Rubaiyat of
Omar Khayyam - Edward Fitzgerald. Gill and I sang here, in one "Songs of
Praise" service, robed up in the choir stalls. |

| Dunwich church of St. James, built in the mid 19th century.
Dunwich was the capital of East Anglia 1500 years ago but the harbour and
most of the town have since disappeared due to coastal erosion. Its decline
began in 1286 when a sea surge hit the East Anglian coast. |
Dunwich - The Leper Chapel. The remains of a 13th century
Franciscan priory (Greyfriars) and the leper hospital of St James can still
be seen in the new St. James graveyard. |
