“Crocus Walk 2009”   Sunday, May 3rd, 2009.

Following last year's bunions and blisters and hobblers, this was a slightly shorter walk of 4.2 kms, yet many of the enthusiastic walkers who turned up decided to repeat the longer walk to Tunel. The morning was beautiful, the company was fun, and we were able to donate 750€ to the AECC - the Spanish charity against cancer.

 
“El Nautico Dinner Dance”   April 24th, 2009.

An event enjoyed by all, with dancing into the early hours, this was not only a happy evening, but one that raised 460€ for the Friends' charity fund. Several folk were heard to say that they'd had such a great time, they should have been charged more for the evening!

 
San Martin de Porres Fund Raising  event, 7th November 2008.

The Friends held their third annual San Martin dinner dance at Rte 21 and raised 500€, half of which was immediately donated, the following evening, to the local Alcossebre/Alcala Cancer Association. The balance will go to other local charities, along with proceeds from kindly donated raffle prizes from local businesses.

An “Indian Buffet Night”   was held on September 19th 2008!

..... in the new Indian Voojan Restaurant on the Las Fuentes road, and what a memorable event it was! Excellent curries were served to almost ninety supporters, and even the raffle raised almost 300€ towards the Friends' funds, which will be distributed to local charities.  Les the guitarist led the music for those who felt like dancing the night away - and many did.  

Crocus Walk 12th April 2008.

On Saturday 12th April, some eighty people gathered at Playa Romana to support The Friends of Alcossebre in their "Crocus Walk". The perfect morning, and the walk in good company, completed by a picnic by the sea caused a few blisters, but, more importantly, donations were given by the walkers towards the Breakthrough Trust who will be shortly be receiving a cheque for 800 €.
